That Was The Week That Was – 6th December 2020

This week was all about the release of a dream project I had been working on for some weeks.

Back in July, Jim Coudal, co-founder, alongside Aaron Draplin, of Field Notes – the popular brand of beautiful memo note books – messaged me to say he had this crazy idea, and wondered if it was possible to create 99,999 snowflakes so that each cover of the upcoming Winter edition would be unique. I of course said yes, but in truth wasn't really sure how it could be done. Thankfully we made it happen and this week they were released into the wild, receiving an amazing reaction from subscribers and the public in general.

You can read more about what went into making this work over on Field Notes.

I have to confess that in the back of my mind in a kind of subconscious bucket list, I had always wanted to do a Field Notes cover but never mentioned it to Jim as that would have been too crass. Eventually the planets aligned and my wish was granted. I have to say it turned out even better than I could have imagined, creating the first generative cover for Field Notes, each of them unique.

Huge thanks to Jim, Brian Bedell, Aaron Draplin and the all the team at Field Notes, the printers LCP and Steve Delahoyde for the amazing job with the accompanying film.
