I just saw Lee Brimelow’s article on your Drag-Slide-Fade transition classes and I must say that I am really impressed. Also, your website is pure genius! Keep up the good work, and I plan on using your classes in Flex, so we’ll see how it goes. Adios muchacho

Great work, and site! I’m an illustrator and fine artist who just lanced into the digital world as from one year ago, keep me posted and I will send you my site address when it is finished around March, and thanks! Stephen

    Brendan,
About once a month, I look on Amazon for your new book “DRAG SLIDE FADE Flash ActionScript 3.0 for Designers”.

Please tell me you or … somebody is making this book. I’m tired of reading stuff I can’t use. I just need a great book like DRAG-SLIDE-FADE so I can start making stuff with ActionScript 3.0 and not have to become one with the zen world of the semantic meanings of class as it pertains to the same stupid examples of the ‘animal’ class. All the animals have legs and a head and eyes … but some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Brendan, really great work, thanks for the library - it’s a very useful thing.
    But, one question:
    why the function
    fadeAlphaTo (a:Number)
    dosen’t have duration argument& ;)
    Something? like this:

    fadeAlphaTo (a:Number,d:Duration)

    Like Scale, like Rotate?

    Ken:

I know what you mean about certain people complicating the learning of AS3. Even the Adobe examples in the help seem over complicated at times!

I don’t have plans to write DSF 3 I’m afraid. I’m kind of done with technical books - they’re a lot of work and these days I don’t have the time to devote to such a project. I am though putting together a new class library to follow on from the the DSF 2 library which contains some useful AS3 bits that I use everyday.

You might want to check out Rich Shupe’s book http://www.amazon.com/Learning-ActionScript-3-0-Beginners-Guide/dp/059652787X

Oh and there’s also some AS3 files on my site that can help with the move from AS2 to AS3 http://www.brendandawes.com/code/as3-for-lazy-bastards-like-me

This is the Flash Actionscript 2 library that was first introduced at Flashforward San Francisco 2005. The current library features 17 classes that you can use in your code to do things that I’ve found handy when working on Flash projects.

Now features some Flash 8 classes such as a BlurTween class. Includes example FLA files and documentation. Documentation is also available online. Lee Brimelow has made a great video tutorial on how to use these classes.
