Browsebox - Chumby meets Squeezebox

As I recently mentioned I’ve been working on a little project to create a visual album browser for my Squeezebox using the Chumby (thanks to Shawn at FITC). So after getting back from SXSW I managed to get the first prototype up and running.

browsebox

See it in action and read more details of the why and a bit of the how. Hopefully over the next few weeks I can find time to improve the idea of the “browsebox” and see how far I can push the Chumby in terms of performance and interaction.

Brendan,

This is awesome and is one of the best examples yet of what we hoped clever hackers would do with their prototype chumbys. As a happy Squeezebox owner, I can’t wait to try this myself!

Hats off to you.

Thanks Steve! I’ll have the source for download in a day or so so people can play!

Looks great. How did you get access to the slim server’s IP? In my version the widget swf does a loadMovie() pointing to the local network (where I have another .swf in the same domain as slimserver).

Thanks,
Phillip

Hi Philip,

Well I have a QNAP box running Slimserver so what I had to do is put a crossdomain.xml file on my Mac webserver and then use a php proxy to then access the slimserver. Ideally I should have been able to just put the crossdomain.xml file on the slimserver but no matter where I put it (via telnet) it just wouldn’t show up via the browser! This was the next best thing!

Hello,

It is very nice. What do you think of nabaztag ?
They are also making smart objects and the latest nabaztagtag is impressive.
