What does the FiddleMaster 1000„¢F control at the moment?

    Steven Grosvenor /

ah well I’ve got a few things but they’re not ready to be shown just yet. I really like playing with the rotary controls as that’s something you aint got on a keyboard - plus you can use two things at the same type, again very difficult to do on a keyboard! The main thing is though that it’s a much nicer interface - I mean it’s a just a knob that you turn back and to rather than a load of keys staring back at you - just very touchy feely and physical.

no PIR sensor or pressure pad?
this looks very interesting, have to say…i used to do things with stamp 5-6 years ago, and this could be a good way to get back into physical installation work. will have to explore…

Yeah Basic Stamp is cool and that’s what I used on the snow globe experiment but the Teleo board is much simpler to get to grips with. And yeah I’m playing with sensors too - that’ll be added to the fiddlemaster!

did you get the teleo anywhere here in the uk, or did you have to order it from the states?

I got it when I was in the states.

It appears my degree course may be getting some Teleo stuff in, but that’s yet to be seen. Have you seen Wiring?

It looks very good and hope it’s finished soon (it’s still in development and was a thesis project). It’s kind of like using a bx-24 but better, you plug all of your sensors etc into a breadboard and then have a much simpler programming language in Processing, doing most of the work for you, so no need for Basic.

If you download and read Hernando’s thesis, he documents the development and looks at other systems, such as Teleoo, iCube etc. Its a great looking project.

Most of my time at the moment is taken up with the brilliant Making Things Teleo system - getting to grips with controlling Flash with switches and knobs and the like as well as output like having Flash control motors and such like. Along the way I’ve blown a few bulbs up and nearly blew a motor up - it got rather hot! Eventually getting my head round all this voltage mumbo jumbo. So then I decided I needed some kind of box that had a bunch of switches on and knobs and such that allowed me and mN to experiment with what this baby can do. After a few trips down to the local Maplins and a few hours drilling and soldering the Fiddlemaster 1000 was born!

Around the back is a series of sockets, each wired up to the relevant switches. I’ve then got leads that simply plug in and then screw on as normal to the Teleo board. It’s ropey in places but it works!
