So the other night there we where playing the incredible Nintendo Wii Sports, when my sister-in-law did a beautiful cross court back-hand - smashing into the Philips Cineos TV in the process - guess that’s why they don’t have LCD TV’s on court at Wimbledon.
The TV survived - there was a scratch on the LCD but it turned out to be plastic from the Wii remote. But for me this just goes to show the brilliance (and fun) of the Wii.
People become so engrossed in playing that I’m sure they actually think they’re on a tennis court - not my living room! So things like TV’s and other furniture become pretty much invisible because you’re so engrossed in the game. No matter how far back you stand when you start - you soon forget your position in relation to everything else. Of course the other thing to mention is that my sister-in-law, and my wife for that fact, where playing video games because the normally complex controll systems are completely melted away. But lots of people have written about that already - still though - it’s what I think a “home entertainment” system should be all about. Made for everyone - not just 20 something males with no girlfriends.
I was thinking or making actual bumbers for my TV made from that stuff you lag central heating pipes with. Wii bumbers - yeah - I need to trademark that!
