Let’s face it - you’re a frustrated Film Director. Why don’t you start doing music vids???

Or something arty farty that’s sure to be snubbed at the BAFTAs and get Gold Medal in Cannes? :)

While I was in New York for Flashforward I bought myself a long wanted Sony DigiCam. Film has always been a massive passion of mine and probably my biggest influence, but up until now I haven’t really had the gear to explore what I can do with the medium. So right now I’m playing around with Final Cut Express, After Effects and the like (though I’ve been using After Effects for a few years) and just reading lots of stuff on film making and editing (though the best way to learn is to just make stuff). The Conversation is a stunning book by the author of The English Patient Michael Ondaatje in conversation with Walter Murch, a legendary film and sound editor. Not just a book about the craft of film editing it’s also about creativity as a whole with loads of great insights into composition, sound use, process etc. Highly recommended.
