Another week another iteration! One of the things I love about having this site entirely powered by Wordpress is how I can change the look of the site with the flick of a switch using the themes feature. So with this version I wanted to have a homepage that allowed me to start to display the stuff on this site in various ways. So after seeing Jared Tarbel’s brilliant work on Levitated.net, I took one of his source files, hacked it up a little bit and created a view of Wordpress posts that created little “creatures”.
These typographic creatures become larger depending on how many comments a post has. But the age of the post is also taken into account. The older the post the longer the creature becomes - plus as it’s older it doesn’t move as much as it’s younger friends. You can also flip to a simple text list view too!
What’s next? Well this is just the start. I want to continue to explore visualizations of Wordpress in various forms. I’m also thinking of having special themes that get triggered on the weekend.
