For a while now I’ve been using what I think think is one of the best pieces of user interface I’ve ever used. And it’s so beautifully simple. Clutter is a cool little alternative interface for iTunes. Instead of choosing what music to play via a clean, clinical, organised list in iTunes, Clutter allows you to throw album covers around your desktop which you then just double click to hear that album. This cute little app searches out the album cover art via Amazon which you then just drag onto your desktop to organise how you want. What I love about this is it gives you visual cues to making a choice to what you want to listen too. Just like in real life. You browse through your CD’s and vinyl via the covers (OK, the spines as well but bare with me on this). It’s a much more physical tactile thing and this is what Clutter tries to recreate. It’s a fabulous concept. Hopefully we’ll start to see more stuff like this that helps to make digital stuff more touchy feely.

This sounds great. I would really dig listening to music on my Mac this way. I will have to see about giving this a spin. Thanks, yo!
