Just some simple experiements with the Flash 8 BitmapData class. Feel free to download the source code, but rather than use as is, add your own twist - there’s plenty more scope for what is possible by manipulating the BitmapData thingy. Also check out some things you can do with video.
Black & White
Move your mouse left and right. Very simple black and white conversion by copying color channel into all the others. No masking was used, just BitmapData manipulation.
The Burn
Move your mouse left and right. By constantly blurring the image in the x and y axis it appears to burn away.
The Streak
Move your mouse left and right. Using the same technique as The Burn, a blur being constantly applied, but this time only blurring in the x axis gives a kind of paint smearing effect.
The Cina
Vertical last pixel stretch effect, named after Mike Cina!
