The Shape of Data

Creating time based structures from real-time data

Commissioned by Escape Technology for Intel for the HP Discover event in London, The Shape of Data takes the real-time happenings on Twitter and for every minute, creates a physical like structure for that moment representing the popularity over time of selected hashtags. At the start of each capture, text accompanies each moment. Then, as time passes, the text becomes less important as the expected transforms into the unexpected, giving form to these passing moments.

Over the course of three days, thousands of images were created, representing the constantly shifting pattern of conversation on Twitter.
